2007 Forks Old Fashioned 4th of July Demolition Derby, Part 1 of 2
By Steve Kuo, July 9 2007
Various pictures from 2007's Forks, WA Old Fashioned 4th of July Demolition Derby. Held in Tillicum Park Arena, the demolition derby is the main highlight event of the 4th of July festivities.
Having lived in Forks, WA for a while and since moved to Seattle, I decided to attend this year's demolition derby. I flew one of Valley Fliers flying club's Cessna 172 from Auburn airport (S50) to Forks airport (S18). The flight took less than 90 minutes each way. Once landed and the aircraft secured, a short walk into town brought up to Tillicum Park, where we enjoyed a delicious salmon bake held by the Forks Lions Club. After finishing lunch it was time to rush over to the arena and secure some good seats. I recommend sitting on the west side of the arena (closest to Highway 101) in order to be upwind from the impending smoke and burning rubber.
