Great article on Min Kao, co-founder of Garmin. He left Bendix-King (AlliedSignal) because of the bureaucracy and lack of innovation and ended up starting his own company. He had the insight and vision to see that the then new military GPS system could used for consumer applications. This reminds me of the researchers and ideas at Xerox's Palo Alto Research Center and those that left Shockley Semiconductor Laboratory to form Fairchild Semiconductor. It's kind of invigorating to see that in the face of big slow corporate America, there's still room for innovation. Yahoo article on Min Kao of Garmin Xerox PARC Founders of Fairchild Semiconductor
